Delivering More Than Meals…
Here at Meals on Wheels Staten Island we deliver more than meals, we also deliver hope and happiness. We have over 450 volunteers who donate their time each day to deliver meals to our Senior Community. Volunteering is simple and very rewarding. The minimum requirement is that you be available at least two hours one morning a week…Thats It!
Check out our Frequently Asked Questions to learn more and be sure to fill out our volunteer form. A member of our staff will reach out to you to answer any additional questions you may have, and we can even arrange a day and time for you to come visit and see our operation for yourself.
How Old Do You Have To Be To Volunteer?
All volunteer drivers must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid drivers license and insurance coverage on their personal vehicle.
How Long Does It Take To Drive The Route?
You should allow two hours of delivery time. You will arrive at your designated meal pick-up site at 10 am and load the meals into your vehicle (hot meals in the hot bag, cold meals in the cold bag). You will then deliver the meals to your clients. You will be assigned a regular route, once one becomes available, that you will deliver usually once a week. The clients on your route will become your friends.
